While Switzerland leads the world in innovation, there is further potential to strengthen the scaling of startups into global market leaders. Project Switzerland is a new nationwide initiative designed to close this gap by connecting high-potential scale-ups with some of the country’s most successful tech entrepreneurs.
Project Switzerland brings together 20 proven role models, including unicorn founders, to support the next generation of Swiss companies on their global growth journey. The role models include leaders behind companies such as Scandit, GetYourGuide, SonarSource, Metaco, and Nexthink, each having scaled businesses to unicorn valuations or revenues exceeding CHF 100 million. The initiative is promoted by Deep Tech Nation Switzerland, a non-profit foundation dedicated to enhancing Switzerland’s status as a leader in the deep tech sector and backed by leading companies, foundations, and universities, including the Università della Svizzera italiana.
The 12-month program focuses on practical execution. Participating scale-ups gain direct access to role models, receiving at least two hours of monthly support, along with curated matchmaking around challenges such as international expansion and high-performance leadership. Companies also benefit from lifelong access to an exclusive alumni community of exceptional entrepreneurs.
“Switzerland is strong in technical innovation, but we lack a deep bench of operators who know how to scale,” says Bettina Hein, Serial Tech Entrepreneur and Project Switzerland Role Model. “Project Switzerland is the place where you learn to scale.”
The initiative targets Swiss-headquartered scale-ups with global ambition and strong foundations for rapid international growth. Nominations are open until February 15, 2026, and can be submitted by investors, board members, and ecosystem actors. Selected companies will be announced on March 31, 2026.
