The Ticino cantonal bank is strengthening its sustainability strategy through a new partnership with DEC Energy, a startup incubated at USI Startup Centre that created a platform to connect renewable energy producers and companies interested in making their energy consumption green.

The two organisations have signed a multi-year agreement to promote the production and use of renewable energy generated in Ticino. For BancaStato, the initiative represents a further step in the sustainability strategy already integrated across its activities. Within the framework of this partnership, the cantonal bank will use the digital platform developed by DEC Energy to make its renewable energy supply more transparent, measurable and cost-effective.

The need for new solutions that integrate sustainability and business strategy is real as today companies based in Switzerland are required to face more and more demanding ESG reporting. According to Luca Bordonzotti, Sustainability Manager at BancaStato, the platform offered by DEC Energy confirms that companies can adopt renewable energy solutions without compromising on profitability.

DEC Energy’s solution enables companies to source electricity from specific local renewable energy plants and receive the corresponding Guarantees of Origin, which certify its source. In 2025, the company was awarded among the Top 3 Swiss startups in the Finance & Insurance vertical by >>venture>> competition. This partnership represents an important step in DEC Energy’s development, confirming the existing needs and allowing the company to refine its platform with the goal of making the solution available to all companies in Ticino.
